Welcome to the Division of Acute Care Surgery
The faculty in the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Division of Acute Care Surgery provide integrated and comprehensive care to patients in the areas of trauma, critical care, and emergency general surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital. Working collaboratively with colleagues from Emory University, Grady Memorial Hospital, and Grady’s Military-Civilian partnership, they deliver only the highest quality services to all patients in need at Atlanta’s only level 1 ACS-verified trauma center.
The Marcus Trauma Center (MTC) itself is one of the busiest trauma centers in the country, handling a volume of nearly 14,000 patients a year and triaging all aspects of care from admission to discharge and beyond. Through advanced and innovative treatment options and the most current evidence-based practice patterns, patients with traumatic injuries receive the most thorough and contemporary treatment plans to ensure the best outcomes. The critical care service line manages patients with neurological trauma, general trauma, general surgery, and those in need of cardiovascular care. A multi-disciplinary approach is prioritized to provide a diverse learning environment and optimal care of these complex and critically ill patients.
Additionally, the newly formed Emergency General Surgery service treats a broad scope of urgent and emergent non-traumatic conditions, incorporating the latest developments in robotic, laparoscopic and minimally invasive technologies to facilitate a fully patient-centered experience and promote efficient and progressive recovery.
The faculty holds an unwavering commitment to educating and training the next generation of skilled and adept surgeons. Advanced fellows, residents, and medical students spanning multiple institutions and specialties strongly benefit from the robust exposure to some of the most complex cases in the state.
