Working with Biological Materials
All protocols that involve working with biological materials will need approval by the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). Please complete the and email a copy to cbynum@msm.edu. The application will be sent to the IBC for review.
Disposing of Waste
If you have non-infectious biohazard waste or sharps containers that need to be disposed of, an online form is available to request a pickup. . Email the form back to our office once completed. When preparing to make a waste pickup request remember to allow two working days for the disposal to be completed. Please refer to the for waste disposal and segregation.
Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs)
Biosafety Cabinets are a type of biocontainment equipment used to provide personnel, environmental, and product protection. Biosafety Cabinets at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ are certified annually by a third-party company (e.g., ENV Services, Equitech). If a BSC has been moved to another lab, the BSC will need to be recertified. Please contact EHRS regarding BSCs.
