General Admissions Requirements

Thank you for your interest in the Master of Science in Medical Sciences Degree Program at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ. For admissions into the program, prospective students should meet the general admissions requirements listed below.

  • A 4-year baccalaureate degree or the equivalent from an accredited undergraduate institution in the U.S.
  • Satisfactory completion of C or better in all of the following courses:
    • General Biology w/laboratory (one year)
    • General Chemistry w/laboratory (one year)
    • Organic Chemistry w/laboratory (one year)
    • General Physics w/laboratory (one year)
    • College level Mathematics (one year)
    • English (including composition) (one year)

*** One academic year is equivalent to either two semesters or three quarters***

  • An official transcript from each college or university that has been attended
    • Minimum GPA of 3.6 with a BCPM of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (1-Year Program)
    • Minimum GPA of 3.2 with a BCPM of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (2-Year Program)
  • Release of all previous official MCAT scores (scores must be < 3 years old)
    • Minimum MCAT score of 497 (1-Year Program)
    • Minimum MCAT score of 492 (2-Year Program)
  • Evidence of community service and exposure to the medical profession.
  • Three letters of recommendation, at least two from undergraduate or graduate science instructors
  • Demonstrated commitment to medicine and service to the underserved

Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition of many academic programs to virtual instruction, grades from science courses taken online will only be accepted for those courses taken during the academic years of 2020-2021 and 2021-2022, as well as science grades submitted as Pass/Fail during these years. Proof of the actual percentage score may be requested via a letter from the course instructor. Grades received from online science courses and science grades taken on a Pass/Fail basis received outside of these academic years will not be accepted.

An accepted applicant is responsible for completing all prerequisite coursework prior to matriculation into the MSMS degree program. Students who are accepted but have not graduated prior to acceptance to the MSMS degree program, will be denied admission if they fail to forward evidence of successful completion of all courses and receipt of their undergraduate degree to the Office of Admissions no later than July 1. Applicants should maintain a good record of scholastic performance and conduct during the period following acceptance.
